DA launches Agri-Puhunan at Pantawid farmer credit program

The Department of Agriculture officially launched the Agri-Puhunan at Pantawid Program on Friday, a government initiative offering low-interest loans and financial support to farmers.

President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. led the launch ceremony in Alabel, Sarangani, emphasizing the program's goal to ease the financial burden on farmers.

Through the APP, farmers can borrow up to P60,000 per cropping season at a 2% annual interest rate.

“Simula ngayon, hindi niyo na po kailangan alalahanin ang mataas na tubo na kaakibat ng inyong hinihiram,” Marcos said.

(From now on, you no longer have to worry about high interest on your loans.)

Repayment can be made by selling produce to the National Food Authority or through DA-accredited cooperatives.

Additionally, the program provides a P8,000 monthly subsistence allowance for four months - from the planting to the harvesting period.

“Sa panahon naman ng pagtanim hanggang sa pagaani, makakatanggap din kayo ng tulong pantawid na nagkakahalaga ng P8,000 tuwing unang linggo sa loob ng apat na buwan,” the President added.

Beneficiaries will also receive Intervention Monitoring Cards, which can be used to purchase farming materials from accredited suppliers.

To further support farmers, Marcos announced the distribution of agricultural machinery, including a mobile disinfection truck and a forage chopper, aimed at increasing productivity and income. — DVM, GMA Integrated News
