P20-per-kilo rice to be available at more Kadiwa stores
Customers didn't mind lining up for P20-per-kilo rice as they had been made available anew after the midterm elections.
According to Ivan Mayrina's report on "24 Oras," one buyer was so happy that it appeared she was about to cry.
"Sobrang saya ko, naiiyak ako," she said.
Another customer said she needed the more affordable rice that the government made available.
"Kasi kailangan po namin to eh. ako po ay senior citizen at biyuda po," she said.
As of May 14, the P20 rice is available at the following stores:
- Department of Agriculture (DA) Central Office, Quezon City
- Barangay San Antonio, Parañaque
- AMVA Cooperative, Valenzuela
- Bureau of Plant Industry, Manila
- Kadiwa Center, Malabon
- PNP-SPD, Taguig
- Kalentong Market, Mandaluyong
- Public Market, Pasay
P20 rice will also be available at 30 other Kadiwa stores in Bulacan, Cavite, Mindoro, and Rizal starting Thursday.
On the other hand, rice retailers have said that the sale of P20-per-kilogram rice had affected their sales.“Mas nabibili yung P20. Nakatengga [ang paninda namin]. Wala po, nalulugi kami… Pagka lagi may stocks, malulugi kami,” shared a retailer.
(The P20 sells better. [Our products] are not being bought. That’s it, we’re losing profit… As long as there are stocks, we will have losses.) –Jiselle Anne C. Casucian/NB, GMA Integrated News
