NHA grants one-month moratorium on lease, amortization payments

The National Housing Authority (NHA) on Friday announced it has issued guidelines on the one-month moratorium of amortization and lease payments nationwide to ease the financial burden of its housing beneficiaries following the combined devastation of Southwest Monsoon or Habagat and tropical cyclones Crising, Dante, and Emong.

In a statement, the NHA said its General Manager Joeben Tai issued NHA Memorandum Circular No. 2025-141 to grant the one-month payment moratorium for the agency’s housing beneficiaries all over the country.

It said that from August 1 to 31, 2025, “payments of amortization and lease are suspended.”

The NHA added that no delinquency interest or penalties will be imposed during the month-long suspension.

Collection of amortization and lease payments and addition of delinquency and other interest charges will resume on September 1, 2025, according to the housing authority.

The moratorium aims to offer relief for families residing in NHA project sites, many of whom are still recovering from the physical and economic aftermath of the typhoons, and to allow them to focus on rebuilding their homes and lives without the added burden of payment obligations.

The housing authority noted that any payment made during the moratorium will be applied under the existing hierarchy of payments.
