Gasoline pump prices up for 4th straight week Tuesday; diesel and kerosene for 3rd
Motorists will be greeted with heftier prices of petroleum products this week, as fuel retailers on Monday announced another round of hikes to mark the fourth straight week of upward adjustments for gasoline, and the third for both diesel and kerosene.
In separate advisories, Chevron Philippines Inc. (Caltex), Flying V, Petron Corp., Shell Pilipinas Corp. and Seaoil Philippines Corp. said they will hike prices per liter of gasoline by P1.00, diesel by P1.40, and kerosene by P0.70.
Cleanfuel, PTT Philippines Corp., and Unioil Petroleum Philippines Inc. will implement the same changes, excluding kerosene which they do not carry.
The adjustments will take effect at 6 a.m. on Tuesday, September 9, for all the firms, except for Cleanfuel which will implement the changes at 4:01 p.m. the same day.
Other firms have yet to make similar announcements for the week.
The Department of Energy-Oil Industry Management Bureau (DOE-OIMB) earlier projected price hikes for this week, citing the US sanctions targeting Iran’s oil revenue stream, the halt of exports to India’s refinery, and the intensifying airstrikes in Russia and Ukraine.
Firms last week hiked prices per liter of gasoline by P0.70, diesel by P1.00, and kerosene by P0.70.
This brought year-to-date adjustments to a net increase of P12.80 per liter for gasoline, P13.45 per liter for diesel, and P2.75 per liter for kerosene as of September 2, 2028. — RSJ, GMA Integrated News
