Palace: Marcos admin continues efforts to achieve economic targets

Malacañang maintained Tuesday that the Marcos administration is doing everything to achieve the economic growth targets.

''Muli sinisikap ng Palasyo, sinisikap ng Pangulo na maabot natin kung ano iyong target po natin. So, pagsisikapan pa rin po especially with these kind of rallies na nangyari po, medyo maingay po talaga pong nakakaapekto ito sa ekonomiya,'' Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Atty. Claire Castro said at a briefing.

(Again, the Palace, the President aims to achieve the target. So we will continue to work on this especially amid the rallies that are ongoing wherein the effect of corruption to the economy is being amplified.)

''So, pagtutulung-tulungan po ng economic team ng Pangulo at also with the help of the people na sana maabot natin ang target,'' she added.

(So, the economic team of the President is working on this and also with the help of the people to achieve this target.)

The Philippines is expected to miss its economic growth target for the third straight year in 2025 following weaker-than-expected third-quarter performance.

This as corruption concerns dampen consumer and investor sentiment, Department of Economy, Planning, and Development (DepDev) Secretary Arsenio Balisacan said.

Balisacan said the economy is “very unlikely” to meet the already downgraded growth target range of 5.5% to 6.5% set by the inter-agency Development Budget Coordination Committee (DBCC).

The slowdown comes as the country grapples with corruption revelations, particularly in flood control projects. — Anna Felicia Bajo/RSJ, GMA Integrated News
