DOTr begins construction of apartments for families affected by NSCR project

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) on Tuesday said it has started the construction of Sining Apartments Public Rental Facility (PRF) in Barangay Landayan, San Pedro, Laguna.

The Sining Apartments PRF would be the government-built rental housing facility under the North South Commuter Railway (NSCR) Project.

The rental apartments would benefit families affected by the NSCR, the DOTr said in a statement.

The Transportation Department said even those found ineligible for socialized housing but were displaced by the railway project’s construction can avail of the housing rental program.

The agency said the facility aims to provide displaced families with a decent home at low and affordable rental rates ranging from P500 to P700 a month.

The Sining Apartments PRF, funded by the DOTr, will consist of three multi-storey buildings with a total of 242 residential units.

The facility can accommodate 191 non-landowner project-affected families (PAFs).

The DOTr said each unit has a living room, dining room, bedroom, kitchen, toilet and bath. As an in-city development, residents will remain in areas near schools, workplaces and essential community services.

The construction of the housing rental facility being constructed by the San Pedro, Laguna LGU is expected to be completed by June 2027. —VAL, GMA News
