The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) on Tuesday announced it has completed the restoration of all power transmission lines toppled by the magnitude 7.8 earthquake in southern Mindanao.

With this, the NGCP said that “power transmission services were fully restored in South Cotabato, Sarangani, and General Santos City at 1:38 p.m., June 9, 2026.

“NGCP assures the public that it continues to closely monitor the situation in the area,” the grid operator said.

The Department of Energy (DOE) earlier said it has directed the NGCP to fast-track assessment and restoration activities to ensure the swift and safe recovery of affected transmission services.

The Energy Department has mobilized personnel to work closely with electric cooperatives, distribution utilities, and other energy stakeholders to facilitate the safe restoration of electricity services in affected areas.

Damage assessments and system inspections of generation, transmission, and other distribution facilities continue to determine the full extent of the impact and guide the orderly restoration of power in areas that remain affected, while electricity services have already been restored in several communities where conditions permit safe re-energization. —AOL, GMA News
