Marcos holds situation briefing after magnitude 7.8 Mindanao earthquake
President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on Tuesday convened a situation briefing with key government officials following the magnitude 7.8 earthquake that struck offshore Sarangani in Mindanao on Monday.
According to the Presidential Communications Office (PCO), the President is currently getting updates from Social Welfare Secretary Rex Gatchalian, Science and Technology Secretary Renato Solidum Jr., Health Secretary Ted Herbosa, Office of Civil Defense Usec. Harold Cabreros.
Local government officials, including General Santos City Mayor Lorelie Pacquiao, is also virtually present in the meeting.
“The Cabinet officials are currently in Mindanao following the President’s directive for a whole-of-government response, providing updates on ongoing response efforts, damage assessments, and the immediate needs of affected communities,” the PCO said in a Facebook post.
Malacañang assured the public Monday that the government has sufficient funds to respond to the impacts of the earthquake. —AOL, GMA News
