BIR extends tax deadlines for areas affected by Mindanao earthquake
The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) extended to June 30, 2026 the tax filing, payment, and document submission deadlines for taxpayers registered in the revenue district offices (RDO) of General Santos City, Sarangani, and South Cotabato.
Under Revenue Memorandum Circular No. 62-2026, the deadlines are extended for taxpayers covered by RDO No. 110 and RDO No. 111.
Taxpayers covered by this memorandum “shall not be subjected to the imposition of penalties, surcharges, and interest, provided that the concerned tax returns, payments, and submissions are made within the extended period,” the BIR said.
The memorandum extended the statutory deadlines for submission and/or filing of the following attachments and/or tax returns, as well as the payment of the corresponding taxes, originally falling from June 8 to June 29.
“Through this extension, we hope to provide affected taxpayers additional time and flexibility as families, businesses, local governments, and national government agencies attend to immediate needs and recovery work,” BIR Commissioner Charlito Martin Mendoza said in a press release.
Mendoza said he has instructed the concerned Revenue Region and RDOs in the affected areas to inspect their facilities and ensure that offices are operational before regular operations resume. —Lyjah Tiffany Bonzo/RF, GMA News
