SC suspends court operations in parts of Mindanao after earthquake

The Supreme Court (SC) on Tuesday suspended court operations in some areas following the magnitude 7.8 earthquake that struck offshore Sarangani on Monday.

According to the SC, the following courts suspended operations:

Sarangani

  • All courts in Sarangani Province

Davao del Sur

  • All courts in the Hall of Justice of Davao City
  • 2nd Municipal Circuit Trial Court (MCTC) Hagonoy-Mantanao
  • 3rd MCTC Padada-Kiblawan

Davao Occidental

  • 5th MCTC Malita-Sta. Maria-Don Marcelino
  • 6th MCTC Jose Abad Santos-Sarangani (Balut Island)

Davao del Norte

  • All courts in Panabo City

Davao Oriental

  • Mati City Regional Trial Court (RTC) and Municipal Trial Court in Cities (MTCC)
  • Lupon RTC Branch 32 and all courts under its territorial jurisdiction
  • Baganga RTC
  • Baganga Municipal Trial Court (MTC)
  • 1st MCTC Cateel-Boston
  • 2nd MCTC Caraga-Manay-Tarragona

Davao de Oro

  • All courts in the Hall of Justice of Nabunturan

South Cotabato

  • All courts in Surallah
  • All courts in Polomolok except Branch 39, RTC
  • All courts in the Hall of Justice of Koronadal City
  • All courts in the Hall of Justice of General Santos City

The SC said that the situation is continuously being monitored.

According to the Office of the Civil Defense, the reported death toll due to the incident has climbed to 37.

As of 6 a.m., the OCD said 33 deaths were reported in Soccsksargen (18 in Sarangani, 12 in General Santos City, and 3 in South Cotabato). Four deaths, meanwhile, were reported in Davao Region. —VAL, GMA News
