The Mindanao grid remained intact after no damage was reported following a magnitude 5 earthquake offshore Sarangani, Davao Occidental on Saturday morning, the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) said.

"Power transmission services in Southwestern Mindanao remain stable despite the 5.0 magnitude earthquake that occurred 16 kilometers southwest of Balut Island, Municipality of Sarangani, Davao Occidental at 4:07 AM, 27 June 2026," the NGCP said in an advisory.

"The grid remains intact as there had been no reported damaged transmission facilities in Southwestern Mindanao and nearby areas where the earthquake was felt," it added.

The magnitude 5.0 earthquake, which was tectonic, was recorded offshore Balut Island, Sarangani, Davao Occidental on Saturday morning.

Its epicenter was at 05.27°N, 125.40°E - 016 km S 8° W of Balut Island, at a depth of 10 km.

PHIVOLCS said the magnitude 5.0 earthquake was an aftershock of the magnitude 7.8 earthquake that occurred offshore Sarangani on June 8.
