Marcos inspects Navotas Fish Port to ensure food security, livelihood for fishing industry
President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. visited the Navotas Fish Port Complex in Navotas City on Saturday to check on its operations in a bid to ensure food security and steady livelihood for fishermen.
Marcos was accompanied by Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr.
"Mahalaga ang Navotas Fish Port Complex bilang isa sa mga pangunahing bagsakan at sentro ng bentahan ng isda sa bansa," Marcos said.
(The Navotas Fish Port Complex is important as one of the primary centers of fish trade in the country.)
The President said he made the visit to check on Navotas Fish Port Complex's rehabilitation of its facilities to ensure that the infrastructure could serve the growing needs of the fishing sector.
"Kaya personal nating sinuri ang patuloy na rehabilitasyon ng mga pasilidad nito upang matiyak na nakakasabay ang ating imprastraktura sa lumalaking pangangailangan ng sektor ng pangingisda," he said.
(That is why I personally checked the continuing rehabilitation of its facilities to make sure our infrastructure is able to meet the increasing needs of the fishing sector.)
Marcos said that a modern and orderly port will facilitate safe and more efficient operations which will in turn improve the livelihood of fishermen, traders, and others working in the industry.
It will also ensure continued supply of quality food for the public, he added. —KG, GMA News
