₱12 per liter discount for PUVs to start on Aug. 15 - LTFRB

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) on Thursday reminded drivers and operators of public utility jeepneys (PUJs) and UV Express that they can avail of the ₱12 per liter fuel subsidy starting Saturday, August 15.

Qualified beneficiaries can save as much as ₱1,800 per week with the fuel discount, the agency said.

This is a ₱2-per-liter increase from the present P10-per-liter subsidy that was first implemented in April.

Executive Secretary Ralph Recto said the increased fuel subsidy is due to the impact of the ongoing crisis in the Middle East on fuel prices.

But motorists saw relief this week as pump prices were rolled back by more than ₱4 per liter for August 11 to 17.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development was also directed to ensure continued implementation of the Unified Package for Livelihoods, Industry, Food, and Transport (UPLIFT) program - the government's relief program for Filipinos impacted by the Middle East tensions. –NB, GMA News
