Uber pays LTFRB P5M fine on Tuesday

Transport network company (TNC) Uber Philippines has paid the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) the P5 million fine imposed by the government for violating provisions of the franchise contract with the government.

"We paid this afternoon – one tranche, P5 million," Uber Philippines Communications head Cat Avelino told GMA News Online on Tuesday.

The LTFRB slapped Uber and Grab Philippines with a P5 million fine each for various violations, such as allowing drivers to operate without the necessary permits from the regulatory body.

Both companies last week said they will comply and pay the P5 million fine.

Grab Philippines said it will pay the government on Wednesday, July 19. — With Ted Cordero/VDS/TJD, GMA News
