Ford Ranger sales up 16% in H1

Retail sales of the Ford Ranger pick-up truck in the Philippines increased by 16 percent to a record high in the first half of the year, the carmaker said on Thursday.
"In the Philippines, Ranger year-to-date sales increased by almost 16 percent to a record 4,596 vehicles, capturing 25 percent of the segment and making it the second best-selling pickup truck in the country," it said.
Overall Ranger sales in Asia Pacific was up 21 percent year-on-year to 63,525 vehicles in the first six months of the year.
"Demand for Ford Ranger continues to rise as consumer needs evolve towards a versatile vehicle that can be used for both work and play," said Mark Ovenden, Ford Asia Pacific vice president for marketing, sales and service.
Australia led with sales of 21,638 vehicles, followed by Thailand with 20,230, and New Zealand with 4,980.
