Toyota brings hybrid electric vehicle tour to the DLSU campus

Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) teamed up with the De La Salle University for its hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) tour in the academic institution's Manila campus.

In an emailed statement, TMP said it had staged its HEV tour at the DLSU Manila campus, in partnership with the Department of Mechanical Engineering.

"Our continuous activities on HEVs are geared towards the youth because they are the ones who will benefit most from this technology," said TMP First Vice President Cristina Arevalo.

"With enough support and proper implementation, the untapped potential of hybrids can improve our transportation systems and our environment in the long-run."

TMP is attempting to bring electrified versions of its existing models to the Philippines.

The company also aims to eliminate carbon emissions by the next three decades under its Toyota Environmental Challenge 2050.

According to TMP, the DLSU leg was part of its Hybrid Campus Tour, which aims to promote vehicle electrification towards sustainable mobility.

Prior to this, Toyota conducted its first campus tour last March in partnership with Mapua University.

"This year will be an exciting time for the motoring public as we continue the push for electrification, and customers can definitely expect more options from Toyota if they’re looking to own environment-friendly cars," said Arevalo. — Jon Viktor Cabuenas/DVM, GMA News
