BIR regional offices launch ‘Angat Pa, Pinas!’ tax campaign

The Bureau of Internal (BIR) Revenue Region (RR) No. 8 on Wednesday officially launched the bureau's tax campaign for the year in the cities it covers.

The purpose of the "Angat Pa, Pinas!" tax campaign is to remind taxpayers to perform their duty of paying their taxes, BIR Makati Assistant Regional Director Teresita Dizon told GMA News Online.

She said the BIR Makati aims to collect P170 billion this year.

Revenue Region No. 8 includes BIR district offices in Taguig/Pateros, East Makati, West Makati, North Makati, South Makati, Pasay City, Parañaque City, Las Piñas and Muntinlupa.

Last week, BIR Manila and BIR San Pablo City, Laguna launched the tax campaign in their areas.

BIR San Pablo City is tasked to collect P53.64 billion this year, while BIR Manila is tasked to collect P48.1 billion this year.

The agency released its tax campaign video last week.



"The video shows how taxes work to the benefit of the community, to the taxpayers themselves, and ultimately contributing to nation-building," BIR said.

It said the "Angat Pa, Pinas!" campaign aims to "change how the public feels about taxes." — BM, GMA News
