NKTI's COVID-19 beds nearing full capacity
The National Kidney and Transplant Institute (NKTI) announced Monday that its beds for cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) are nearing full capacity.
According to a “24 Oras” report, executive director Dr. Rose Marie Rosete-Liquete said NKTI’s capacity for COVID-19 patients was already in the “danger zone.”
The facility’s emergency room has already reached capacity.
NKTI appealed to the public to bring COVID-19 cases elsewhere.
However, the hospital will continue to accept renal emergency cases and post-kidney transplant patients.
Earlier on Monday, St. Luke’s Medical Center and the Makati Medical Center both announced that they no longer had intensive care unit beds for COVID-19 patients.
Prior to this, the Philippine General Hospital and San Lazaro Hospital said they had also reached full capacity for COVID-19 cases.
The Department of Health earlier clarified that such announcements refer only to beds dedicated to COVID-19 cases and not the capacity of the entire hospital. -Julia Mari Ornedo/NB, GMA News
