Four cops among 12 people injured in San Juan demolition

At least 12 people were injured as a clash that marred the demolition of houses at a residential area in San Juan City before noon on Wednesday.   The who were injured included four policemen, two firemen, and a heavy equipment operator, radio dzBB's Glen Juego reported. The demolition was meant to give way for the construction of additional facilities for the San Juan City Hall.   As the police and demolition team started the dismantling of houses in Corazon de Jesus village, violence erupted as residents attempted to thwart the demolition of their homes.   The police arrested some people who threw stones and molotov explosives at the demolition team during the clash.   Earlier, classes at a local high school were suspended in time for the scheduled demolition. - VVP, GMA News
