Vhong Navarro needs month-long medical care – report

The NBI provided the media this photo of Navarro's medico-legal certificate.

Days after Vhong Navarro went under the knife for a five-hour facial reconstruction procedure at St. Luke's Medical Center, the National Bureau of Investigation has released the hospital's initial medico-legal report on his condition. The actor and host will be incapacitated for a month, according to the report.

“Under normal condition, without subsequent complications and/or deeper involvement present, but not clinically apparent at the time of examination, the above described physical injuries shall require medical attention or shall incapacitate the victim for a period not less than 31 days,” the certificate read.

The report also detailed Navarro’s initial injuries when he was brought to the hospital, including facial fractures, contusions, deformity of the nasal bridge and leg abrasions.

The NBI has since filed a complaint against those who mauled Navarro inside a condominium unit in the Bonifacio Global City last month.

Among the respondents in the complaint, which was filed with the Department of Justice, are Deniece Cornejo, the occupant of the condominium unit; and her friend Cedric Lee, a businessman.

A report on “24 Oras” said that among the charges leveled against the respondents was serious illegal detention, a non-bailable offense.

The report said Navarro executed his affidavit in his hospital bed as he was recuperating from surgery.

Cornejo and Lee are accusing the actor of attempted rape, while Navarro's camp has denied the charge, saying that the actor was the victim of attempted extortion. — Patricia Denise Chiu/BM, GMA News
