Another glitch hits MRT; operations limited from Shaw to Taft

Yet another glitch hit the Metro Rail Transit (MRT-3) Tuesday morning, with the Department of Transportation and Communications temporarily limiting operations from Shaw Boulevard in Mandaluyong City to Taft Avenue in Pasay.

A tweet by the MRT-3 management as of 10:12 a.m. said the provisional service is in effect, and that intervention is ongoing.

A separate report on dzBB radio said the problem started at about 9:30 a.m.

In a text message to GMA News Online, MRT general manager Al Vitangcol III said there was a broken rail between North and Quezon Avenue stations. He said repairs are ongoing and expected to be finished in two hours.

“Rail not passable from North to Quezon Avenue stations south bound. Implemented provisional service at 9:35 am using eight trains from Shaw to Taft. Intervention ongoing. Will be repaired in two hours time,” Vitangcol said.
