Taguig police admits it’s hard to nab those behind stone-throwing on C-5

The Taguig City Police admitted it is difficult to nab those behind stone-throwing incidents on C-5 Road, a report on Balitanghali by Ivan Mayrina on Monday said.

Some motorists have reported that their windshields got damaged after pedestrians threw stones at their vehicles.

Last February 4, at 3 a.m., a vehicle with five passengers was cruising along C-5 Road southbound in Taguig City when a man suddenly hurled a stone at them. One of them was hurt.

Police said such an incident is not an isolated case.

Three such incidents are usually reported to them every week, they said.

The suspects are usually minors who are homeless or men drinking alcohol along the service road, making it hard for the police to catch them in the act.

"Tinutukan ko 'yung mga batang natutulog diyan sa gilid. 'Yung sa obserbasyon kasi 'yan 'yung mga nambabato ng mga sasakyan, parang laro nila," said P/Insp. Ivan Joe Balberona, commander of PCP-8.

He added they have arrested those who were caught drinking by the roadside since sometimes they are the ones throwing the stones at vehicles passing by.

Police however admitted that minors who were arrested could not be charged in court due to their age. —KG, GMA News
