Cops raid 2 drug dens in one Manila street; 8 arrested

Eight people were arrested in raids at two drug dens along Leveriza Street in Manila early Wednesday.

Senior Inspector Eduardo Papaya, chief of the Malate Police station's anti-illegal drugs unit, identified the main targets of the separate buy-bust operations as Myline Romero and Christopher Parayno.

Romero was arrested after selling P200 worth of shabu from a police poseur-buyer at her house along Leveriza Street.

Policemen also arrested Romero's mother, Hilda, for attempting to prevent the police form arresting her daughter.

Two more suspects identified as Gilbert Veray and Criselda Cabanto were arrested during the operation.

Parayno was also arrested after selling P200 worth of shabu to another poseur-buyer.

Three others identified as Eduardo Papaya, Bernie Javier and John Bell Padilla were arrested for possession of illegal drugs.

Garcia said Romero and Parayno are both included in their drugs watchlist. They allegedly used their houses as drug dens.

Seized during the separate operations were 12 sachets of shabu with a street value of at least P15,000 and various drug paraphernalia.

Charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act will be filed against the seven suspects while Romero's mother will face a case of obstruction of justice. —report by James Agustin/ALG, GMA News
