Overnight rains due to habagat enhanced by Domeng flood parts of Metro Manila

Heavy monsoon rains enhanced by Severe Tropical Storm Domeng poured overnight over Metro Manila, flooding some areas.

At 12:45 a.m. Sunday, the northbound lane of Ramon Magsaysay Boulevard corner Pureza Street in Sta. Mesa, Manila was not passable to vehicles due to the flood.

A sportscar also stalled after going through floodwaters.

Many were stranded in the area.

It was only at 4 a.m. when floodwaters subsided and the area became passable again.

Meanwhile, on Lacson Avenue from Dapitan Street to Dimasalang Street in Manila, the flood was at gutter level as of 4 a.m.

In Quezon City, residents woke up to fallen fences and concrete barriers, strewn garbage, and mud after almost 4-feet floodwaters submerged parts of Araneta Avenue near the corner of E. Rodriguez Avenue.

On Saturday, a tree fell on a car parked at a hospital in Sampaloc, Manila amid heavy rainfall, reported YouScooper Robert Tamayo.

Domeng (international name Maliksi) strengthened yet again even as it accelerated northeastwards at 32 kilometers per hour, weather service PAGASA reported in a Sunday morning forecast.

Along with the southwest  monsoon, Domeng would bring moderate to occasional heavy rain over Luzon, while the southwest monsoon and the monsoon's trough would bring cloudy conditions with light to moderate rain and isolated thunderstorms over the Visayas. —KG, GMA News
