Spouses Alan and Lani Cayetano eye House seats to represent two districts of Taguig

Spouses Alan Peter Cayetano and Lani Cayetano are both running for Congress to represent separate legislative districts in Taguig.

According to Emil Sumangil's report on "24 Oras," Taguig Mayor Lani Cayetano filed her COC for to run for congresswoman in the second district on Tuesday while her erstwhile Foreign Affairs Secretary Alan Peter Cayetano filed his COC to represent the first district Representative on Wednesday.

While living together, their COCs bore different addresses.

Based on the documents, Lani said she lived in Barangay Fort Bonifacio while Alan declared his address in Barangay Bagumbayan.

"Magkaiba," Alan said when confronted with the different addresses.

"Hindi bago yon. It really happens. We live in the same city," he added.

Article VI, Section 6 of the Constitution requires a member of the House of Resresentatives to be "a resident thereof for a period of not less than one year immediately preceding the day of the election."

During the same interview, the former senator remarked that husband and wife getting seats in Congress was nothing "unique."

He also maintained there was nothing questionable about their candidacy as they were aiming to represent different districts.

"Eh hindi naman siya matatalo eh," Cayetano said.

"Pero 'di unique ito sa mag-asawang Albano, Congressman din, Davao, Isabela," he added.
