MMDA declares EDSA 'traffic discipline zone'

A Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) official said on Tuesday that they have declared EDSA as traffic discipline zone or self-discipline zone for motorists.

"Ibig sabihin po niyan kahit walang enforcers dapat sumunod po tayo sa panuntunan ng batas trapiko,” MMDA traffic manager Bong Nebrija said on Unang Balita.

Nebrija advised motorists to give courtesy to other motorists, maintain discipline and observe traffic rules while on the road.

“Sana panatalihin ang pagbibigay ng kortesiya sa bawat isa nang sa ganun, hindi  po iinit ulo natin at mapanatili natin ang daloy ng trapiko by staying to our lanes and observing  traffic regulations,” he said.

He said MMDA will focus more on re-educating motorists than apprehending them.

“Ito po ang pag-iisip ng mga driver natin na ang EDSA ay malaking karerahan. Unahan sa pasahero, unahan sa pagkita,” Nebrija said.

“Siguro,  isantabi muna natin yang mga sariling kapakanan natin at isipin din naman natin yung kapakanan ng ibang road users dito,” he added. —Joviland Rita/KBK, GMA News
