6 hurt in Manila hostage-taking incident

Six people were hurt in a hostage-taking incident in Sta. Mesa, Manila, on Monday morning.

The hostage-taker, identified as Dominador Abrillo, a 38-year-old resident of Taguig City, was later arrested by the police.

Reports reaching the office of National Capital Region Police Office chief Director Guillermo Eleazar said Abrillo, armed with a gun, took a five-year-old kid hostage at the PNR Sta. Mesa Station on Anonas Extension.

Police said Abrillo ran amok after learning that his brother, an overseas Filipino worker, was killed in a police operation in Pampanga. He allegedly grabbed the service firearm of PNR guard Johnrel Jabonillo, fired several shots, and held the kid hostage.

Abrillo surrendered after more than an hour of negotiation.

All the six victims were hit by stray bullets and were brought to Ospital ng Sampaloc and Lourdes Hospital. —KBK, GMA News
