MMDA announces North Ave., Elliptical Road lane closures for MRT7 construction

Some of North Avenue and Elliptical Road's lanes in Quezon City will be closed for certain periods in the coming months due to the construction of the Metro Rail Transit Line 7, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said on Wednesday.

Starting December 27, only four lanes on North Avenue near Quezon Memorial Circle will be open to motorists until construction is finished.

On the portion of Elliptical Road on the corner of Quezon Avenue, going to Quezon and East Avenues, seven lanes are open to motorists until January 8, 2019.

From January 9 to February 8, nine lanes will be open to motorists on this same portion of Elliptical Road.

From February 9 to March 8, passable lanes on Elliptical Road corner North Avenue will be reduced to seven lanes.

“After one month, balik sa seven lanes. Pinasakop tayo ng isang buwan ng nine lanes, tapos balik tayo sa seven lanes,” MMDA general manger Jojo Garcia said in a press conference on Wednesday.

From March 9, eight lanes on Elliptical Road going to Quezon and East Avenues will be open to motorists until the construction is done.

“Pasalamatan natin lagi ang MRT kahit papaano gagalaw sila ng lane laging nire-relay sa MMDA,” Garcia said. — BM, GMA News
