Immigration agents nab 30 illegal Chinese workers in Parañaque City

Immigration authorities arrested on Sunday in Parañaque City 30 Chinese workers illegally working in the country.

Quoting Bureau of Immigration Commissioner Jaime Morente, Super Radyo dzBB's Mao dela Cruz reported that the 30 Chinese workers were illegally working in 16 establishments along Diosdado Macapagal Boulevard.

According to the report, the foreign workers are without working permit and visa, in violation of the Philippine Immigration Act.

Acting on a tip from informers, Bureau of Immigration and Deportation agents raided the 16 establishments hiring the aliens as cooks and vendors.

Most of the foreigners are in the country on tourist visa and some of them are undocumented overstaying aliens, the BI said.

According to Morente, the arrest of the Chinese should serve as a warning to foreigners that the BI is serious in its campaign against illegal aliens.

The 30 Chinese are temporarily being detained at the BI detention center while deportation processes are being undertaken. —LBG, GMA News
