Three people hurt in shooting incident on EDSA

Three people were injured in a  shooting incident that occurred along EDSA southbound near Reliance Street on Sunday afternoon.

Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) personnel who were at the site said the incident occurred at 3:23 p.m., involving passengers of a white Toyota Hi Ace  van (NOS 361).

In a followup report,  Super Radyo dzBB's Sam Nielsen quoted authorities as saying three passengers of the van were hurt and were rushed to the nearby VRP Medical Center.

A police report identified the victims as Jose Ruiz Yulo, 62; Esmeralda Ignacio, 38, from Las Piñas City; and Nomer Santos, 51, the van owner.

An initial police investigation showed that armed men riding tandem on a black motorcycle pumped bullets at the passenger side of the van.

Nielsen said that the incident caused heavy traffic in the area as two inner lanes of the EDSA southbound near crime scene have been occupied. —KG/LBG, GMA News
