Cops nab six Chinese in raid on suspected Makati gambling den

Makati City cops arrested six Chinese on Thursday night in raid on a suspected illegal gambling den in the city's San Lorenzo Village.

Police operatives searched the target house upon entry and found in one room several computers, and cellphone units authorities believed used for illegal gambling purposes, a report on "Unang Balita" said.

The six Chinese in the house peacefully surrendered to the police, the report added.

One of those apprehended insisted he did not have any knowledge about the supposed illegal gambling operation in the house.

National Capital Region police chief Director Guillermo Eleazar arrived in the area shortly after the raid, to personally inspect the house.

Police said the raid was undertaken after cops secured a search warrant from court.

At about 1 a.m. Friday the suspects arrived in Camp Bagong Diwa for police booking.

If found to have no proper documents from the Bureau of Immigration, the six Chinese would be deported, Eleazar said, adding that a number suspected illegal gambling operations in the metropolis are under surveillance.

"Mayroon pang ibang illegal operations na minamanmanan ang ating mga pulis. Napakaraming impormasyon na nakukuha tayo lalo na sa posh villages na nagrerenta," Eleazar said. —LBG, GMA News
