Christine Silawan’s ex used fake Facebook account to lure her —NBI

The ex-boyfriend of Christine Lee Silawan used a fake Facebook account to lure her into meeting him, police investigators have said.

Christine is the 16-year student who was brutally killed in Lapu-lapu City last week. Her face was skinned, her tongue pulled out and her body bore stab wounds.

According to Joseph Morong's report on "24" Oras", the National Bureau of Investigation examined her Facebook messages and it appeared that she had a new suitor.

Christine and the new suitor were supposed to meet at 6 p.m. on March 10.

CCTV footage showed that she waited near the church where she had served as collector.

Instead of the new Facebook suitor,  it was her ex, the 17-year-old suspect, who showed up.

Portions of the CCTV footage showed Christine arguing with the suspect.

"Pwedeng pagkita nila du'n, nagulat si Christine. 'Bakit ito ang kuwan nito, eh hindi naman ito ang kasusap ko?'" said NBI Region 7 director Tomas Enrile.

Asked why Christine still went with the suspect, Enrile said, "'Yan ang tanong."

Enrile said the suspect had already admitted committing the crime and identified two others as his conspirators.

A complaint for murder in relation to the Cybercrime Prevention Act has been filed against the suspect, who's now in the custody of the Department of Social Welfare and Development office in Cebu. —Margaret Claire Layug/NB, GMA News
