P8.5M worth of party drugs seized from high-end BGC hotel

Some P8.5 million worth of party drugs were seized from a high-class establishment at the Bonifacio Global City in Taguig City on Wednesday, according to Bam Alegre's report on Unang Balita.

Also seized were P700,000 in cash and checks worth P175 million. One person, identified as Domingo Uy, was arrested.

The contraband were discovered by two housekeepers inside an open vault in a rented unit, according to Police Major General Guillermo Eleazar, chief of the National Capital Region Police Office.

"Immediately they (housekeepers) called for the security officer and manager nitong high-end hotel na ito. SOP naman, tumawag sila ng pulis," said Eleazar, who was at the area.

The unit is reportedly being rented by Uy, a Filipino with a Canadian passport who has been staying in the place since December.

Eleazar said among the party drugs seized were 4,038 ecstacy pills, 350 grams of high-grade cocaine, 103 grams of kush and three bottles of liquid marijuana.

"Napakaraming drugs nito," he said.

Eleazar believes the discovery of the illegal drugs was just "the tip of the iceberg," adding the police investigation will zero in on Uy's possible network. —KBK, GMA News
