2 workers killed as Sogo building in Manila collapses

Manila Mayor Isko Moreno confirmed that two workers were killed after the Ermita, Manila building of lodging chain Hotel Sogo collapsed on Monday morning, Super Radyo dzBB's Sam Nielsen reported.

Moreno identified the fatalities as Melo Izon and Jerome Fabello.

Izon's body was recovered past 3 p.m. and was brought to Ospital ng Maynila.

Retrieval operation for the Fabello's body continued as he was trapped under a slab.

Nineteen other workers survived the incident.

Moreno said that there would be an investigation on who should be held liable for the collapse.
