NCRPO’s Sinas: Grave misconduct raps to be filed vs. 4 cops accused of sneaking contraband in Bilibid

National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) acting director Police Brigadier General Debold Sinas on Friday said grave misconduct cases would be filed against four policemen who allegedly tried to sneak in contraband at the New Bilibid Prison (NBP).

"Grave misconduct. Ang kuwan niyan maximum penalty niyan is dismissal, ang medium penalty niyan is one rank demotion, ang minimum penalty is two to six months suspension," Sinas said during a press conference in Quezon City.

Sinas earlier bared that two policemen have supposedly directed two of 16 cops to bring cigarettes and alcoholic drink inside the national penitentiary. He did not identify yet the identities of the involved policemen.

Earlier reports said 14 of the 16 policemen were caught with cellular phones outside the NCR Quad Intel Force in Bilibid. Sinas said the police's anti-cybercrime unit has not given yet the results of the forensic examination on the confiscated cellular phones to them.

Meanwhile, the crime laboratory already confirmed that the drinks, which were seized, have alcohol content.

Sinas said all involved policemen have been already disarmed and they are now being held at the NCRPO's holding camp unit.

The acting Metro Manila top cop also said authorities are finalizing the probe as the elite Special Action Force commandos deployed in the area already gave their statements on the matter. — RSJ, GMA News
