Makati cops probing suspected kidnapping along Paseo de Roxas

Makati Police operatives are investigating reports of a kidnapping incident along Paseo de Roxas Avenue in Makati City on Monday evening, Rod Vega reported on Super Radyo's DZBB.

The alleged victim, based on initial reports, is a female Chinese national.

In a video, the leg of the victim can be seen while she is being forced by unseen individuals into the vehicle, according to a report on Unang Balita.

The victim was shouting but even if there were people in the area, no one approached and tried to help her.

The van then drove off even if the door was still open.

According to initial investigation by Makati police, the vehicle went around the block three times in the Paseo de Roxas Avenue area.

She stepped out of the vehicle but the male passengers, identified as Chinese nationals, forcibly pulled her back inside.

There were individuals who went near the van but failed to help the woman. A witness said they feared that the kidnappers were armed.

After a few minutes, a woman can be seen walking along Perea street entered the vehicle and talked to the passengers.

The police also retrieved documents, including Chinese passports and I.D., in the area that could have fallen out of the van.

"Ang nakikita naming kwento it's either yung babae parang may atraso kasi unang una itinatago rin niya ang kanyang identity," said Police Colonel Rogelion Simon.

"Ang tinigtignan namin usually mga POGO or online companies ng mga chinese na yung kanilang mga employees nakakagawa ng kasalanan o kaya may mga  ninanakaw doon sa company," he added.

Meanwhile, in a separate interview on Unang Balita, Makati Police investigations chief Police Major Gideon Ines said that the victim could also be the wife of a Chinese national who owns one of the IDs that were recovered in the area.

"Tinitingnan po natin kung itong biktima ay ito 'yung asawa ng nalaglag na identfication cards doon sa crime scene kagabi," Ines said.

"Na-trace natin 'yung ID na nalaglag, ito ay nakatira sa Eton Residences, dito sa may Greenbelt malapit. Nakausap natin 'yung guard na 'yung may-ari ng unit doon, naka-address doon, mag-asawa raw ang nakatira doon at may babae daw siyang kasama, mula pa kahapon ay lumabas sila ng kanilang condominium at mula noon hindi na bumalik."

If the missing couple doesn't return to their condominium unit soon, the probability that they were kidnapped could grow stronger, Ines said.

The police said the kidnappers were Chinese nationals.

The plate number of the van was traced by the police but this was registered to another vehicle.

Authorities are searching for CCTV footage of the abduction to determine the whereabouts of the victim. — with Dona Magsino/BAP/KBK, GMA News
