Sinas says motive of alleged Makati kidnapping could be debt-related

The acting director of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) on Tuesday said authorities are eyeing debt as the possible motive of the alleged kidnapping incident in Makati City.

At a press conference, Police Brigadier General Debold Sinas refused to identify the personalities allegedly involved in the incident.

“Hindi muna namin ibigay 'yung pangalan kasi ongoing po 'yung investigation. There are angles na kinoconsider na hindi talaga kidnapping, parang may personal matters about mga utang, mga ganon,” Sinas said.

“‘Yung narecover na documents may mga pangalan eh, parang 'yung mga deed of sale. 'Yun ang finafollow-up ngayon,” he added.

The Makati City police are currently looking into the alleged kidnapping incident that transpired along Paseo de Roxas on Monday night.

A video, which went viral over social media, has shown a woman who was being dragged into a vehicle by still unidentified suspects.

The suspects and the victim are believed to be Chinese nationals, police said.

Sinas further assured the public that it is still safe in Metro Manila, noting that alleged kidnapping incidents in the metro were isolated cases.

Prior to the incident in Makati City, there had been reports of missing individuals in Pasay City. Probe is still ongoing on this matter.

“We’re one of the safest, ang ganda nga ng SEA Games natin eh. These are just isolated cases that we are investigating,” Sinas said. — RSJ, GMA News
