At least 10,000 cops to secure Traslacion 2020 —NCRPO

At least 10,000 policemen will be deployed to secure the annual Traslacion this coming January 9, according to the acting chief of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) on Friday.

At a press briefing, Police Brigadier General Debold Sinas said the exacted number of police personnel is still being finalized by the officials.

“Ongoing pa rin po ang preparation sa deployment,” Sinas said.

Sinas said the NCRPO is already preparing its request to telecommunication firms to jam signals during the Traslacion, or the Feast of the Black Nazarene where millions of Catholic devotees usually attend..

Sinas earlier said organizers of this year’s procession and the NCRPO have agreed to let devotees climb up the image’s carriage but only from its back section.

Sinas had said the procession would take the Black Nazarene to the Ayala Bridge instead of the Jones Bridge, which would reduce the usual route by 300 meters. —KBK, GMA News
