Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto regularizes 53 city hall employees

Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto on Tuesday announced the regularization of 53 contractual local government employees as part of the fulfillment of one of his campaign promises.

In a Facebook post, Sotto said the 53 workers had been contractual employees of the City Hall for over 20 years.

One of the regularized employees, Roberto Rodrigo, had been a contractual worker for more than four decades.

“Dati, lagi silang tinatakot na makikita kung sino ang binoboto nila at 'di na sila ire-renew kapag do'n sila sa ‘kalaban,’” Sotto said. “Walang politika sa pagdedesisyon natin dito. Pinapatay natin ang palakasan o ‘patronage’ sa pamahalaan.”

The Pasig Mayor said other qualified employees will also be regularized.

During the campaign period last year, Sotto had vowed to regularize qualified local government workers.
