Pandacan warehouse fire causes P15-M worth of property damage

The Saturday fire that ravaged a warehouse in Pandacan, Manila and which caused the collapse of a section of the Skyway Stage 3 project that was under construction caused P15 million worth of property damage, the Manila Fire District said.

In a report, Fire Superintendent Roberto Samillano Jr., deputy fire marshal of the Manila Fire District, gave the damage estimate at the industrial compound of the San Miguel Yamamura Plastic Plant Corp. — a manufacturer of plastic containers and packaging.

The fire allegedly started from a stack file of plastic pallets placed at the open space under the Skyway project, Samillano added.

There were no reported fatalities nor injuries from the fire.

The blaze broke out at 10:36 a.m., reached Task Force Bravo past 11 a.m., and was controlled at 1:52 p.m., according to the Bureau of Fire Protection. — Ted Cordero/DVM, GMA News
