Security firm that employed Greenhills hostage-taker could lose license —police

The security agency of the dismissed security guard involved in Monday's hours-long hostage-taking incident in Greenhills, San Juan could lose its license to operate, police said Tuesday.

Interviewed on Unang Balita, Philippine National Police (PNP) spokesperson Police Brigadier General Bernard Banac said the Supervisory Office on Security and Investigation Agencies (SOSIA) will talk to the agency after it was found out that Alchie Paray, the hostage-taker, had no license.

"Kaagad na ipapatawag ito ng ating PNP–SOSIA. Sila po ay magpapaliwanag bakit nagkaroon ng security guard sa kanilang ahensiya na walang lisensya,” Banac said.

Paray on Monday took dozens of employees of V-Mall hostage to express his resentment to the alleged corruption and unfair treatment in SASCOR Armor Security Agency. He later on released them unharmed after hours of negotiation.

According to Banac, the license guarantees that security guards are competent and trained.

Aside from this, the PNP will also ask the firm about its administrative actions in light of Paray's grievances.

"Maaari itong umabot sa cancellation, revocation ng kanilang license to operate," Banac said of the security firm.

In a separate interview on Unang Balita, Mayor Francis Zamora said Paray took hostages to give light into his sentiments against SASCOR Armor Security Agency.

"Ang layunin niya talaga mailahad niya ‘yung kanyang saloobin. Talagang punong-puno siya ng sama ng loob. Gusto niyang malaman ng lahat na ginagawa niya lang ang kanyang trabaho," he said. —Joviland Rita/KBK, GMA News
