Pinaglabanan Bridge reopens to public

The San Juan River bridge connecting Old Sta. Mesa Manila and N. Domingo in San Juan has been reopened to the public after several months of closure.

In a statement on Thursday, San Miguel Corp. said the bridge, also known as the Pinaglabanan Bridge, was formally opened to traffic by Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar.

"We would like to thank motorists for their patience while we carried out a very important work," said SMC president and COO Ramon Ang.

"In less than six months we were able to rebuild the bridge to its original design, only this time it is new and stronger."

To recall, the bridge was closed on September 15, following the realignment of the Skyway Stage 3 project over the San Juan River.

The Skyway Stage 3 is a 17.93-kilometer elevated expressway project extending the Skyway system from Buendia in Makati City to the North Luzon Expressway exit in Balintawak. —Jon Viktor D. Cabuenas/KBK, GMA News
