Kara David distributes face masks, alcohol to UP campus workers

As the country battles the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), GMA News' Kara David helped out some essential workers who don't get to stay home during quarantine.

Kara shared that she ordered 200 washable face masks and went to the University of the Philippines Diliman campus to distribute them.

She also refilled the alcohol supply of campus workers.

"Drove around UP to give masks and alcohol refill to those working inside the campus — household helpers, street sweepers, security guards, grocery workers and vegetable sellers," she said in a Facebook post.

"If u live inside the campus, please tell me if you want one. It’s not as thick as the disposable face masks but it’s better than nothing. Besides, our frontliners need those supplies more than us," she added.

Kara joins many other kind-hearted people in donating to those in need in this time of crisis.

Alden Richards, through his McDOnald's branch, donated food to frontliners in Biñan City, Laguna.

The Belo Medical Group also donated its supply of personal protective equipment (PPEs) to health facilities.

Citizens and even businesses also showed their support and appreciation to heath workers by sending them free food, coffee, masks, and medicine.

Luzon has been under enhanced community quarantine as of March 17 to contain the spread of COVID-19.

As of Tuesday, the Philippines has reported 552 COVID-19 cases. The number of fatalities also rose to 35 while the total number of recoveries climbed to 20.

Meanwhile, 704 people have tested negative for the disease.
