COVID-19 cases in QC now 97; death toll reaches 14


Ten new coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases were recorded in Quezon City, bringing the total number in the area to 97, according to the local government's latest bulletin.

Based on the data released at 11 p.m. on Thursday, the new infections were detected in Barangays Bahay Toro, Mariblo, San Isidro Labrador, San Jose, West Triangle, Bagong Silangan, Dona Imelda, and Culiat.

Another death is recorded among the 97 patients, bringing the latest death toll to 14. Nine have, so far, recovered from the disease.

Fifty-three out of the 142 barangays in Quezon City are now affected with COVID-19.

Nationwide, the total number of COVID-19 cases have soared to 707 on Thursday, with 45 deaths and 28 recoveries.

Based on the online tracker launched by the Department of Health, there are 722 persons under investigation, while 6,321 others are under monitoring.

A total of 2,147 COVID-19 tests have so far been conducted. More than 700 negative results were recorded. — Dona Magsino/RSJ, GMA News
