San Juan City records 69 COVID-19 cases with 10 fatalities

San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora said on Friday that confirmed coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases in the city had risen to 69.

In a Super Radyo dzBB interview, Zamora also said that of those cases, 59 were in stable condition while the ten others had unfortunately died.

The San Juan City Mayor added that some of the 59 cases were either being looked after in different hospitals across Metro Manila, or were home quarantined because most hospitals were full.

He also revealed that most of the confirmed COVID-19 patients in San Juan were between 50 to 80-years-old.

"Depende rin talaga 'yan sa katawan ng pasyente. They are now all being treated, but it really depends talaga 'yung katawan ng tao. Nakikita kasi natin base sa datos natin, karamihan sa tinatamaan ng COVID-19 ay between 50 to 80-years-old," Zamora said.

The San Juan government had turned the city’s science high school into an overflow quarantine facility for persons under investigation (PUI) of COVID-19.

The facility was being managed by the San Juan Medical Center and by the city health office.

Meanwhile, Zamora emphasized that the local government of San Juan was ready to come to the assistance of residents.

"Sa ngayon, nakahanda tayo hanggang isang buwan. Ngunit kung kukulangin ito, we are prepared naman to allocate even more [resources]," Zamora said. — Anna Felicia Bajo/DVM, GMA News
