Food repacking ops halted in Mandaluyong after 2 staff test positive for COVID-19
The preparation of food packs for distribution to families across Mandaluyong City was temporarily halted on Sunday after two staff at the Office of the Mayor tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
According to a 24 Oras report by Darlene Cay on Monday, the food repacking operations had to be suspended to make way for the disinfection of the City Hall and other areas that were frequented by the two staff.
Mayor Carmelita "Menchie" Abalos has since gone into self-quarantine.
“Na-expose ako sa dalawa kong kasama na parehong nag-positive. Pero hindi na ako nagpa-swabbing kasi wala naman ako talagang nararamdaman. I’m okay, I’m healthy. Walang problema,” she said.
The mayor also assured her constituents that each family in Mandaluyong will receive a food pack.
“Alam ko mayroon pa akong kulang na ilang piraso kasi nga pina-stop ko yung repacking kagabi,” she explained, adding that the repacking operations have already resumed.
COVID-19 has so far claimed nine lives and infected a total of 44 people in Mandaluyong.
Meanwhile, 143 other people are under investigation for possible infection while 372 are under monitoring. —Julia Mari Ornedo/LDF, GMA News
