Manila hospital closed after 5 doctors test positive for COVID-19

Manila Mayor Francisco "Isko" Moreno on Saturday night ordered the temporary closure of the Sampaloc Hospital after five of its doctors tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

According to the Manila Public Information Office, disinfection operations would be immediately conducted at the hospital, as ordered by Moreno.

The hospitals' doctors and administrative staffers of the hospital have been meanwhile placed under quarantine.

In a report on GMA News COVID-19 bulletin, Moreno said that 15 doctors of the hospital were patients under investigation.

Moreno said that if the health care workers were not given rest, the virus may spread amongst them.

The mayor assured that there were still five other district hospitals in the city that remained open.

At present, there were 156 confirmed COVID-19 cases in Manila with 305 PUIs and 16 recoveries.

Meanwhile, the nationwide tally of confirmed cases is at 3,094 with 144 fatalities and 57 recoveries. Joahna Lei Casilao/DVM, GMA News
