DPWH employee who worked at PICC Quarantine Facility dies before COVID-19 test result out

An employee of the Department of Public Works and Highways who worked at the Philippine International Convention Center Quarantine Facility died on Sunday before his COVID-19 test result could be released.

"He exhibited diarrhea and was already tested for COVID-19. We are now awaiting results of the test," said Anna Mae Lamentillo, chairperson of the Build Build Build Committee of the DPWH, in a statement.

Lamentillo said the DPWH has already informed the employee's family and gave them assistance.

The DPWH has also began contact tracing, she said.

Lamentillo said DPWH personnel who had contact with the employee will undergo self-quarantine while waiting for the test result to be released by the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine.

As of Sunday, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country reached 6,259, the Department of Health said.

Of this number, 572 recovered while 409 died. —KG, GMA News
