Duterte: Water allocation hiked in NCR to ensure hand-washing amid COVID-19 threat

The National Water Resources Board (NWRB) has increased the water allocation for Metro Manila for May and June, President Rodrigo Duterte told Congress Monday.

Duterte said the NWRB hiked the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System’s allocation from Angat Dam to 46 cubic meters per second from 42 cms in response to the call “to observe frequent hand-washing and bath-taking” as part of personal hygiene amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

As of 6 a.m. Monday, the water level in the Angat reservoir, which supplies 96% of Metro Manila's water needs, was at 192.45 meters.

The normal operating water level at the dam is 210 meters.

The President made the disclosure in his fourth report to Congress as mandated by the Bayanihan to Heal as One Act, which gave him additional powers to effectively respond to the threat of the deadly virus. -NB, GMA News
