Barangay 847 in Pandacan, Manila to undergo two-day hard lockdown ECQ starting June 1

Manila Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso ordered a two-day hard lockdown enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) to be imposed on Barangay 847, Zone 2 in Pandacan, Manila starting Monday, June 1.

The lockdown will start at 12:01 a.m. on June 1 and will end at 11:59 p.m. on June 2, according to a report by Carlo Mateo on Dobol B sa News TV.

Around 300 families or 3,000 individuals reside in Barangay 847.

Four confirmed cases of COVID-19 have been reported in the area. The patients are recuperating in the hospital.

There were also six suspected COVID-19 cases in the barangay.

Barangay chairman Ruben Flores, Jr. advised residents to take the necessary precautions and remain in their homes during the lockdown.

"Mag-ingat po tayo. Stay at home po. Tulungan po tayo. Hindi po namin kayo pababayaan," he said.

In his Executive Order (EO) No. 24, Moreno said the ECQ is being implemented for purposes of COVID-19 surveillance, rapid risk assessment and testing operations “as the city’s response measures to the imminent danger posed by COVID-19."

"May request ang chairman na mag-lockdown. Tiningnan namin ang datos, viable ang lockdown. Granted po ang inyong request," Domagoso said in a video aired on Facebook Live.

Exempted from the hard lockdown are health workers, military personnel, service workers (pharmacies, drug stores, and funeral homes), utility workers (energy, cable, internet, telecommunication companies, water, sanitation, and critical transport facilities including port operation), essential workers (goods delivery, food delivery, banking and money services), barangay officials, and media practitioners accredited by the Presidential Communications Operations Office and the Inter-Agency Task Force.

“All other commercial, industrial, retail, institutional and other activities not mentioned in above exemptions in the said district shall be suspended within the specified period of ECQ," Moreno's EO read.

“Station commanders of police stations in the said barangay are hereby directed to employ and deploy officers and personnel in strategic locations and areas necessary for the effective implementation of the ECQ," the order said.

As of Saturday, May 30 at 5 p.m., the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Manila has reached 1,386.

Of this number, 101 have died while 403 recovered.

Most of the cases are from Tondo 1, Sampaloc, Tondo 2, and Sta. Cruz.
